imprints was established by Matthew Tyson in 1984 for the promotion and publication of artists books. Since then, joined by Isabella Oulton in 1991, imprints has published books by numerous leading international artists and writers including François Morellet, Bruce McLean, Jerome Rothenberg, Gottfried Honegger, Antoine Emaz, Stephen Chambers and Jacques Jouet.

After a period with a gallery in Bonner Road, London, imprints began publishing prints under the imprint KA! Editions in 1990 and in 1991 moved the the studio to the South-East of France. Since then imprints has worked with Peter Downsbrough, Frank Badur, Heiner Thiel, Kim Lim, Yuko Shiraishi, Claude Rutault and David Rabinowitch, amongst others.
